Rockin' New Year's Eve Events for the 20-Something Crowd

From a 22-year-old, recent college graduate - here are my top five options for New Year's Eve events in our area.

Recent college graduate and back in the Doylestown area? Newly 21 and looking for somewhere you and your friends can go on New Year's Eve?

I polled local restaurants and bars and found my top five options for a rockin' New Year's Eve without leaving the area. Luckily, all of these options include a free champagne toast at midnight.

PUCK

1 Printers Alley, Doylestown

Puck will be hosting Mutlu, "a soulful, Philadelphia-based artist," with guest Adrien Reju on New Year's Eve. Mutlu has performed with Adele, Eric Hutchinson, G. Love and Special Sauce and even Katy Perry. Samantha Kovas, Puck's general manager, said there may be a special appearance by Amos Lee.

Tickets are $30 in advance and you can purchase them on Puck's website, or $40 at the door.

In addition to the musical extravaganza, guests can pay $10 for a generous all-you-can-eat buffet in the upstairs martini lounge. Kovas said the buffet will include classics like baked mac and cheese, roast beef, sausage and cake -- sounds like a deal to me. There will also be giveaways of an iPod Touch, a Corona bicycle and Mutlu autographed merchandise.

376 W. Butler Avenue, New Britain

The New Britain Inn's New Year's Eve Party boasts no cover and their usual Saturday special of $2 Miller Light drafts from 10 p.m. til 2 a.m. There will be a DJ beginning at 9:30 p.m. until the end of the night. The kitchen will be open until 9 p.m. so get there early if you want some munchies.

86 West Restaurant and Bar

86 West State Street, Doylestown

The celebration starts early at 86 West on New Year's Eve -- catch the Happy Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. to begin your night. Dinner specials from 4 to 11 p.m. include a Volcano Sushi Entree for $16 and a 5 oz. filet Oscar with both asparagus and baked potato sides for $29. A DJ will play from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. if you're looking for a venue with a large dance floor.

The Freight House

194 West Ashland Street, Doylestown

If you are looking to end the year on a culinary high, The Freight House will be taking reservations at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. for a four-course meal at $65 a person. Some highlights of the New Year's Eve menu include a butternut squash soup and a Kobe Flat Iron steak.

If you'd rather get your groove on, you can head to The Freight House from 10 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. to enjoy the DJ with no cover.

Stephanie's

29 South Main Street, Doylestown

While I can't report Stephanie's midnight surprise, I can tell you that, for no cover, you can enjoy a bash worthy of the 20-something crowd. Complete with a DJ, giveaways and the necessary New Year's champagne toast, Stephanie's says this is their "Biggest and Best New Year's" yet.

Let's not forget, make sure you iron out your designated drivers prior to the big night.
