Road Work to Slow Traffic Around Doylestown This Week

Crews will be installing traffic cameras, electronic message signs, new traffic signal equipment and guiderails this week along Upper State Road and Rt. 611.

The ongoing installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment to help monitor and manage traffic approaching the new Route 202 Parkway will cause short-term lane closures on several roads in Bucks and Montgomery counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

As PennDOT moves forward to complete the new 8.4 mile, $200 million Parkway this fall, crews will install traffic cameras, electronic message signs, new traffic signal equipment and guiderail on Monday through Friday (Aug. 6-10) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

•      Route 202 between Swedesford Road in Montgomery County and Pebble Hill Road (North of Route 611) in Bucks County;

•      Upper State Road between Route 202 (Butler Avenue) in Bucks County and Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery County;

•      Stump Road between Route 463 (Horsham Road) in Montgomery County and Bristol Road in Bucks County;

•      Route 611 between Limekiln Road and Easton Road in Bucks County; and

•      Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between Richardson Road (North of the Five Points intersection) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County.

In addition, Pickertown Road remains closed between Upper State and Stump Roads in New Britain and Warrington townships, Bucks County, for construction of the bridge over the new Parkway. New Britain Road in Doylestown Township also is closed for reconstruction between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard.

Motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
