Road Work to Slow Traffic Around Doylestown This Week

Expect lane closures on Route 202 from the Route 611 Bypass near Doylestown to Montgomeryville.

With construction of the 8.4-mile, $200 million Route 202 Parkway progressing toward completion this fall, drivers may encounter lane closures this week, July 23-27, for construction in Bucks and Montgomery counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Continuing upgrades to traffic signals will require periodic lane closures along the Route 202 and Route 309 corridors on Monday through Thursday, July 23-26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work areas include:

  • Route 202 (Doylestown Road/Butler Avenue) between Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery Township and Route 611 in Doylestown Township; and
  • Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between the Five Points intersection in Montgomery Township and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Lower Gwynedd Township.
  • PennDOT’s contractor restored the left turn lanes this week at the intersection of Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Lower and Upper Gwynedd and Montgomery townships, but construction will continue to widen both roads at the southern end of the Parkway. This work will require occasional lane closures Monday through Friday (July 23-27) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Swedesford and Knapp roads, and on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump and North Wales roads.

In addition, to through traffic until late August for reconstruction between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard.

Area motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
