Road Work to Slow Traffic Around Doylestown This Week

Upper State Road and the Route 611 Bypass are among those to be affected by ongoing work for the Route 202 Bypass.

Drivers in Bucks and Montgomery counties may encounter travel restrictions for construction related to the Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Crews continue to work to complete construction of the new 8.4 mile, $200 million state-funded Parkway, which is scheduled to open this fall to improve travel between Montgomeryville and Doylestown.

Motorists may encounter lane closures Monday through Friday, Aug. 13-17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the installation of electronic message signs, traffic cameras and traffic signal equipment at the following locations:

•     Route 202 between Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County and Pebble Hill Road (North of Route 611) in Bucks County;

•     Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between Richardson Road (North of the Five Points intersection) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County;

•     Upper State Road between Route 202 (Butler Avenue) in Bucks County and Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery County;

•     Stump Road between Route 463 (Horsham Road) in Montgomery County and Bristol Road in Bucks County;

•     Route 611 between Limekiln Road and Easton Road in Bucks County.

In addition, short-term lane closures will occur on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Route 63 (Welsh Road) and Hancock Road in Upper Gwynedd Township on Monday through Friday (Aug. 13-17) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for guide rail installation.

Pickertown Road also remains closed between Upper State and Stump Roads in New Britain and Warrington townships for construction of the bridge over the Parkway, and New Britain Road in Doylestown Township is closed for reconstruction between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard.

Motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
