Road Work to Affect Travel This Week

Doylestown-area roads will be closed or down to one lane as work continues on the Route 202 Parkway.

Drivers will encounter daytime traffic restrictions along the Route 202 corridor in Bucks and Montgomery counties this week (Aug. 8-12) for ongoing construction of the Route 202 Parkway, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

In Warrington and New Britain townships, drivers will find periodic single lanes with flaggers on Monday through Friday (Aug. 8-12) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road widening and other construction activities on:

  • Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) between Stump Road and Upper State Road;
  • Upper State Road at the intersection with Route 152 (Limekiln Pike).

Ongoing travel restrictions in Doylestown and Warrington townships for Parkway and other bridge construction include:

  • Detweiler Road, closed permanently between Stump and Upper State roads; and
  • Lower State Road, closed to northbound traffic and detoured between Bristol and Almshouse roads.

Periodic lane closures also will occur in Upper and Lower Gwynedd and Montgomery townships, Montgomery County, for ongoing utility relocation and widening activities Monday through Friday this week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike), between Sumneytown Pike and Knapp Road, and on Route 63 (Welsh Road), between Stump Road and Bell Run Boulevard.

PennDOT said drivers should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.

PennDOT is investing more than $200 million in state funds to build the nine-mile long Route 202 Parkway in Bucks and Montgomery counties and to improve roads approaching the Parkway’s entrances.
