Road Work Continues for Route 202 Parkway

Pickertown Road is still closed but New Britain Road was scheduled to reopen as work continues on the Route 202 Parkway.

Drivers may encounter traffic slowdowns on Route 202 and Route 309 in Bucks and Montgomery counties this week as work progresses to complete the Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Lane closures may occur Monday through Friday (Aug. 20-24) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for testing recently installed Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components along Route 202 between Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County and Pebble Hill Road in Bucks County, and on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between Richardson Road and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County.

In addition, construction to widen and improve two roads at the southern end of the Parkway may cause short-term lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Swedesford Road and Route 63 (Welsh Road), and on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump Road and North Wales Road.

New Britain Road in Doylestown Township is scheduled to reopen Saturday (Aug. 18) between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard. The road has been closed for reconstruction.

Pickertown Road remains closed between Upper State and Stump Roads in New Britain and Warrington townships for construction of the bridge to carry the roadway over the Parkway.

Motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.

PennDOT is building the new 8.4 mile, $200 million state-funded Parkway to enhance travel between Montgomeryville and Doylestown. The Parkway is scheduled to open this fall.
