Regional Roundup: Police Bust International Car Theft Ring

And police say a man lied about being beaten and robbed at a Sunoco mini-mart Tuesday afternoon.

Police charged 26 people from three states in car thefts involving 57 cars worth more than $2.3 million. The investigation, known as “Operation Wheels of Fortune,” identified 26 suspects from Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland who have been charged in connection with the theft of at least 57 vehicles, valued at more than $2.3 million—many destined for buyers located overseas. The cars were stolen from dealerships in the greater Philadelphia area, including Faulkner Toyota in Bensalem and Thompson BMW in Doylestown. For the whole story visit Bensalem Patch.

Newtown’s advisory traffic committee is recommending a reduction in speed from 35 mph to 25 mph on Sycamore Street, but the business community is pushing back.
