Pineville Road Bridge Expected to Reopen June 14

The Pineville Road bridge crosses Pidcock Creek in Buckingham Township. It has been closed since 2007.

The Pineville Road bridge, which has been closed since 2007, is slated to reopen June 14, PennDOT spokesman Charles Metzger said.

The Pineville Road bridge crosses Pidcock Creek in Buckingham Township. Before it closed, it carried an average of 332 cars each day, according to transportation data.

The state closed the bridge in 2007 because PennDOT determined it was unsafe.  At its last inspection before it was closed, the bridge's deck was rated a 3 out of 10, while the substructure and superstructure which support the deck both were rated 1.

The township worked with PennDOT to create a bridge that was in keeping with the surroundings. The process involved public meetings and input from nearby residents.
