Pickertown Road Closed for Nine Months

It is among the many roads still impacted by ongoing construction of the Route 202 Parkway from Montgomeryville to Doylestown.

Starting today, Pickertown Road will be closed for nine months as work continues on the long-awaited Route 202 Parkway.

The section of the road in Warrington to be closed will stretch from Stump Road to Upper State Road, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The closure is to allow construction of a bridge over the new parkway, PennDOT said.

During the road closure, a posted detour will take Pickertown Road drivers over Stump Road, Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) and Upper State Road. Local access will be maintained up to the work area.

Pickertown Road originally was to close on Nov 1. The closure was moved back 13 days to allow the contractor to complete all roadwork on Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) before implementing the detour, PennDOT said.

PennDOT’s contractor will build a one-span, 72-foot long concrete box beam bridge to carry Pickertown Road over the new Route 202 Parkway. The bridge will have two 12-foot wide travel lanes, four-wide shoulders, and five-foot wide sidewalks on both sides of the structure.

Pickertown Road is scheduled to reopen in August 2012. The new Route 202 Parkway is scheduled to open in fall 2012.

This operation on Pickertown Road is part of PennDOT’s $25 million project to build the central section of the new Route 202 Parkway between Route 463 in Montgomery Township, Montgomery County and Pickertown Road in Warrington Township Bucks County.

Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. of Blooming Glen, Bucks County is the general contractor.
