New Britain Road to Remain Closed Until August

The PennDOT project is expected to continue for several more weeks.

An operation to rebuild and improve New Britain Road in Doylestown Township will close the road to through traffic for six weeks, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The project, which began on July 9, is expected to be finished by Aug. 19.

PennDOT’s contractor will work over the next month to restore and resurface the pavement on this township-owned road which sustained damage during construction of the Route 202 Parkway.

Crews also will remove a hill near the entrance to the new parkway trailhead parking lot to improve sight distance for drivers leaving the lot; install drainage pipes and inlets; and install curbing on the south side of the road.
 
New Britain Road will be closed between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard.  The posted detour will take motorists over Lower State Road, Wells Road and Turk Road.
