Man Charged with Murder in Borough Stabbing, Police Say

A 21-year-old man faces murder charges after allegedly stabbing a homeless man July 3.

Murder charges against Dale Wakefield, the 21-year-old accused of stabbing a homeless man on South Clinton Street, were filed Wednesday.

Wakefield, who reportedly was out celebrating his 21st birthday before allegedly attacking the man, will now face murder charges after George Mohr passed away last weekend at Temple University Hospital. He also faces two counts of aggravated assault, police said.

Mohr, whose last known address was in Phoenix, Ariz., was stabbed more than 70 times on July 3. He passed away three days later from his injuries.

Authorities have not yet identified a motive or a reason for the attack.

Wakefield reportedly fled to Baltimore after the attack. The Courier Times reported authorities expect him to return to Bucks County for arraignment.

Mohr, 71, was found by a passing motorist, who called Borough Police to report that a struck pedestrian was lying in the street. When police arrived, they found the injured man and discovered the stab wounds.
