Lane Closures This Week

Area roads continue to be affected by construction for the Route 202 Parkway.

Drivers may encounter lane closures on several area roads this week, Aug. 27-30, during pre-Labor Day construction for the Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

PennDOT is scheduled to open the new 8.4 mile, $200 million state-funded Parkway this fall. The roadway is currently in the final stages of construction between Montgomeryville and Doylestown.

Lane closures will occur Monday through Thursday (Aug. 27-30) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Swedesford Road and Gwynmont Drive, and on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump Road and North Wales Road.

Crews will mill the pavement at several locations where both roads were widened to four lanes at the southern end of the Parkway. In addition, PECO Energy will finish the installation of a gas valve on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) north of Route 63 (Welsh Road) on Monday (Aug. 27).

Motorists also may encounter minor delays during lane closures Monday through Thursday (Aug. 27-30) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for testing of recently installed Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components at intersections along Route 202 between Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County and Pebble Hill Road in Bucks County, and Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between Richardson Road and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Montgomery County.

Pickertown Road remains closed between Upper State and Stump Roads in New Britain and Warrington townships for construction of the bridge to carry the road over the Parkway.

Motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
