Lane Closures Planned on Several Roads

Check here before you plan your commute; it's going to be a busy week for road work.

As construction of the new Route 202 Parkway progresses toward a fall opening, drivers will encounter short-term lane closures this week in Bucks and Montgomery counties for the installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

PennDOT is installing traffic cameras, electronic message signs and related components to help manage and monitor traffic flow along the Route 202 corridor.

The installation of these components, plus new traffic signal equipment and guiderail, will require short-term lane closures on Monday through Thursday (July 30- Aug. 2) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Route 202 (Doylestown Road/Butler Avenue) between Route 63 (Welsh Road) and Route 611;
  • Upper State Road between Route 202 and Route 309;
  • Stump Road between Route 463 (Horsham Road) and Bristol Road;
  • Route 611 between Limekiln Road and Easton Road;
  • Route 309 between Five Points and Route 63 (Welsh Road);
  • Route 202 between Route 611 and Pebble Hill Road.

In addition, Route 202 (Butler Avenue) will be reduced to one lane on the bridge over the west branch of the Neshaminy Creek in Chalfont Borough, Bucks County, on Monday through Wednesday (July 30-Aug. 1) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for barrier placement. Crews will install barriers on the bridge to reduce the width of the travel lanes to 11 feet as part of a bridge replacement project unrelated to the Parkway.

Construction to widen Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Lower Gwynedd, Upper Gwynedd and Montgomery townships will require occasional lane closures Monday through Friday (July 30-Aug. 3) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Swedesford and Knapp roads, and on Route 63 between Stump and North Wales roads.
New Britain Road remains closed between Sunset View Drive and Rolling Hill Boulevard in Doylestown Township, Bucks County, through late August for reconstruction.

Area motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
