Jose Garces Returning to Ottsville Market

The Iron Chef's taco truck will return to the Farmers Market Friday night from 4 to 6 p.m.

When Iron Chef Jose Garces' taco truck visited the Ottsville Farmers Market in May, some people were disappointed.

The truck ran out of food before everyone had the chance to sample the specialty tacos.

So now, they're returning, with more food.

Garces' taco truck, Guapos Tacos truck will return to the market north of Doylestown on Friday, June 15. But market organizers warned would-be foodies to get there early.

"Each time they visit Ottsville, they bring more tacos but please plan to arrive early, 4 - 6 pm to enjoy specialties from our favorite Philadelphia food truck," they said in an email blast to their supporters this week.

Iron Chef Garces, who owns a farm near Ottsville, also appeared at the market in September 2011. His appearance attracted quite a crowd, and lines grew long.

Guapos launched last spring, bringing "modern Mexican street food" to Philadelphia. The truck is covered with 45,000 bottle caps arranged in a geometric design.

Menu choices include Green Chile Chicken, with white onion, radish, cilantro, crema, queso fresco ($6), Carnitas, with smoky black beans and pineapple-habanero salsa ($7), and Chipotle Short Rib, with white onion, radish, cilantro, crema, and queso fresco ($7).

To follow the taco truck online, head to its Twitter feed, where employees often tweet the truck's location, especially during lunchtime hours.

When they say "go early", they mean "go EARLY". Last time, we drove 45 minutes to Ottsville, waited in line for 45 minutes, and got almost to the front of the line, when the guy in front of us? Got the LAST. TWO. TACOS. It was just so wrong!

Oh my word. You're right - that's absolutely wrong. And don't you think they would have realized they were running out? I'm kind of surprised they didn't tell people while you were still in line, "hey, we're going to be out soon." Because when we went in September, it took about 20 minutes from the time you ordered til you got the food - plenty of time to realize they weren't going to last. Anyway, thanks for the advice on going REALLY early.
