Irene Update for Bucks County

The storm made landfall overnight and is headed our way.

Hurricane Irene is continuing her relentless push up the East Coast Saturday and is expected to hit Bucks County around 9 p.m. tonight.

The storm likely will bring sustained winds of 40 to 50 miles an hour, with gusts up to 70 miles an hour, according to accuweather.com. Doylestown and the surrounding area also may see 6 to 10 inches of rain, the forecasters said.

The Weather Channel's forecast differed, predicting winds of 25 to 40 miles an hour. Cumulative rainfall would exceed 4 inches by Sunday night, its forecasters said.

On Friday, Dave Cell, of Doylestown Borough, from around their homes - think flowerpots, kids toys', garden tools, patio umbrellas, chair cushions. Tie down anything too large to move, including grills, tables and stacks of chairs.

Bucks County government will at 8 p.m. County spokesman Chris Edwards said they expected to man the center overnight, as the worst of Irene hits Bucks.
