Heavy Rain Brings Chance of Flooding

Flash flooding possible Thursday in wake of heavy rains.

Heavy rain swept into Central Bucks early Thursday, bringing with it the possibility of flash flooding.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning, which will last until at least 6:45 a.m. Thursday. The warning covers most of southeastern Pennsylvania.

As much as an inch of rain was expected to fall within an hour, the weather service predicted.

With ground still frozen from the winter, and less vegetation to take up the water, the rainfall is expected to lead to flash flooding.

Creeks could flood, as could roadways, low-lying areas and those with poor drainage, the weather service predicted.

Area emergency responders remind people not to drive through flooded roads. It is difficult to estimate how deep the water really is or how swiftly the water is moving.
