UPDATED: First Snow of 2012 Arrives

Most of us awoke to a beautiful winter scene as a few inches of snow fell overnight. Unfortunately, the storm is ending with freezing rain.

We knew those mild days couldn't last all winter, right?

Most of us awoke to see 2 to 3 inches of snow blanketing our yards, marking the first measurable snowfall of the winter. While it's beautiful to look at and fun to play in, the storm is ending with freezing drizzle, which is going to make for a messy Saturday afternoon.

NBCPhiladelphia reports that from noon to nightfall, light drizzle and freezing drizzle will cover our area. They are also predicting temperatures will moderate tomorrow and, get this, are predicting a high of 60 with ... wait for it ... thundershowers on Monday.

Today, though, the storm has caused problems on the roads with reports of numerous accidents on I-95 and U.S. Route 1, as well as fender benders on secondary roads and side streets.

The best advice? Get outside and build a snowman while you can. And share your photos and/or videos of the first snow of 2012!

UPDATE: After sundown, many side streets began to freeze. Be extra careful out on the roads!
