Downed Tree Brings Down Power Lines

Parts of Doylestown Borough lost power yet again Saturday morning.

A tree on Ashland Street in Doylestown couldn't survive the strong winds Saturday morning, falling and taking down power lines along with it.

Neighbors from as far as three blocks away could hear the loud noise caused when the tree came down, said Larry Browne, who lives on Washington Street not far from where the tree fell.

The tree fell around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, across from - perhaps ironically enough - a PECO substation. It took down overhead power lines, causing the power to go out in part of the borough.

PECO responded and had power restored before 11 a.m.

Around 1,300 customers lost power during the outage, PECO spokesman Fred Maher said Saturday.
