Gun Owners to Rally in Doylestown Saturday

Saturday's rally of Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County will advocate support for PA House Bill 357, which would make federal gun control laws unenforceable in the state of Pennsylvania.

Local gun rights activists will rally Saturday in Doylestown to support state legislation that would make federal gun control laws unenforceable in Pennsylvania.

The Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County will rally from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the steps of the Bucks County Courthouse. The group, which was formed in January, is a grassroots effort that advocates for gun rights.

Saturday’s rally, which organizers say will be peaceful, will advocate for PA House Bill 357. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe of Butler County, would make any federal law that attempts to register, restrict or ban a firearm or to limit the size of a magazine unenforceable in Pennsylvania. The bill would impose penalties for enforcement.

Representative Paul Clymer, who is a co-sponsor of the bill, will speak at the rally.

“Please bring flags and pro-2A and HB357 signs. Responsible & lawful carry of firearms is welcome!,” the organization said on its Facebook page.

"We don't rally just to rally. We do this because we need to let our anti-gun politicians know we aren't sleeping and fully aware everything that's going on. We do this for you, your family and your right to keep and bear arms. Please join us for an hour this Saturday," the group posted on its Facebook page.

Perkasie Constable Andrew Rumbold, who is one of the rally organizers, will announce that day that he will not follow any orders to enforce federal laws regarding gun control.

“Constable Rumbold is part of growing movement across the United States by governors, legislatures and law enforcement to stop further unconstitutional encroachment by the federal government,” a statement from the Concerned Gun Owners of Bucks County said.

Rumbold told Patch that Doylestown was chosen as the location for the rally because it’s the county seat and situated centrally for people to attend from all parts of Bucks County.
