Central Bucks Announces Acting Superintendent

David P. Weitzel, who has served as the assistant superintendent for elementary education since 2006, will serve as acting superintendent of Central Bucks School District effective July 23.

David P. Weitzel will serve as acting superintendent of Central Bucks School District effective July 23, the district has announced. 

The Central Bucks School Board of Directors is expected to appoint Weitzel to the role during a meeting Tuesday.  

Earlier this month, the board approved a costly separation agreement with former superintendent Rodney Green, who left the district after nine months.

Weitzel has served as the assistant superintendent for elementary education since 2006. He was a principal at Warwick and New-Hope Solebury Elementary Schools before coming to Central Bucks.

He has also been a teacher in the Philadelphia Catholic Schools, a special education teacher in the Philadelphia Public Schools and has served in three administrative positions at LaSalle University, according to information provided by the district.

“Dr. Weitzel has developed and maintained high quality educational programs for the 15 Central Bucks elementary schools.  He looks forward to working closely with the School Board, the Cabinet, and all Central Bucks administrators to bring renewed focus to our core mission of teaching and learning,” a press release distributed by the district said.
