5 Things to Know Today

Lots going on this weekend.

So much to do this weekend. Here's a sampling:

1.  on Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. The event, and parking, are free.

The Christmas parade starts at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, as Santa arrives in a horse-drawn carriage, accompanied by local Scout troops and the marching bank. The jolly old elf will be visiting with children on weekends throughout December.

Enjoy mulled cider, toasted marshmallows and roasted chestnuts as you tour the Village, decked out Victorian-style for the season with fruit wreaths and greens.

2. Watch students from  and  elementary schools dance while the Bucks County Symphony plays during the Bucks County Symphony Youth Concert, Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Doylestown students worked with dance instructor Henry Chapin to learn traditional dances in the weeks before the concert. They will perform dances that were popular during Pennylvania's Colonial period, others associated with Thanksgiving, and a holiday dance medley.

The concert will be performed at Central Bucks South High School, 1100 Folly Rd., Warrington. Adult tickets are $5; students are free. Tickets can be had at the door.

3. Sunday also is the final day of the Holiday Juried Craft Show presented by the Pearl S. Buck Volunteer Association. The annual holiday craft show features area artisans selling antiques, jewelry, pottery, holiday decor and more.

The show is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $2.

4. Get a free peak at 's Christmas decorations during the museum's  on Sunday. Sip hot cider and make a handmade ornament, then hang the ornament on the tree at the neighboring Moravian Pottery and Tile Works.

Hot chocolate, cookies, holiday music, and a visit with Santa also are on the agenda for the event, which runs from noon to 4 p.m. Best of all, the fun is free and open to the public. For more information, call 215-348-9461.

5. , the upscale fundraiser for the nonprofit Heritage Conservancy, opens up for the season. Guests will be able to check out the beautifully decorated mansion while enjoying a gourmet dinner and socializing.

Cocktails begin at 5 p.m., and dinner follows at 6:15 p.m. The Choir Ensemble also will perform traditional carols.
