5 Things for Monday

Info you need to start your week off right.

1. Weather. Gray and more rain likely. Blah. National Weather Service is calling for a 70% chance of rain, and perhaps a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Bring the umbrella. High near 73.

2. Road construction continues all over the area this week, especially work continuing for the 202 Parkway. Check the updated list and to see if roads along your commuter route are affected.

3. Today is World Crohn's and Colitis Day, according to the folks who compile wacky holiday lists. If you have a golfer in the family, check out the 2011 Victory Golf Pass, which offers sweet discounts at courses from Maryland to Pennsylvania. Area courses included are Bensalem Township Country Club, Horsham Valley, Fox Hollow (near Trumbauersville),  Middletown Country Club, Lederach (near Harleysville), Neshaminy Valley (near Jamison), Northampton Valley Country Club, PineCrest Country Club (near Lansdale), and Bucks Club near Jamison. Proceeds from the sale of the book support charity and public awareness of Crohn's and ulcerative colitis.

4. The Doylestown Township planning commission at the township building.

5. On this day in 1934, the infamous Bonnie and Clyde met their ends, as their stolen car was riddled by bullets fired by Texas and Louisiana state troopers. Though still romanticized today, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and their gang robbed banks and stores and were believed to have killed 13 people. (Editor's note: given the tornado that destroyed Joplin, MO, on Sunday, it was disconcerting to learn that Bonnie and Clyde had a hideout near there in 1933.)
