Doylestown Tigers Back on Track for Another Winning Season.

This weekend is shaping up to be a beautiful one.  Blue skies and warm temps; a perfect day to get outdoors.  So, what are you doing this weekend? 

With so many options from a day trip down the shore to the sights and sounds of a bustling Philadelphia, us Doylestownians really don’t have to travel far to see some well-played, exciting baseball, right here in our own backyard.  Yes, that’s right, in our backyard! 

The American Legion 2012 Pennsylvania State Champions Doylestown Tigers have a jammed-packed schedule the next couple of weeks.  Most games are played at War Memorial Field at CB West High School.  The team is once again off to a great start with a 7-1 Bux-Mont league record.

Playing with wooden bats for the first time, the Tigers found their stride early and won several games by double-digits!  And, they don’t disappoint with some spectacular outfield catches, dynamic double plays and a few breath-holding plays at the plate. There have been some great pitching duels, along with some creative bunts situations and even the dramatic stealing home, which you know you don’t see at a Phillies game.  

With outstanding fielding, solid pitching and great hitting, the 2013 Tigers are ready to fight to retain their championship crown.  

Although some top-of-the-line players have moved on this year, this “Little Train that Could,” just keeps on winning.  Returning players, now considered veterans at 19-years old, embrace the roll of leaders.  Nicknames fill the air: Clowey, Claymation, Checkmate, Mullinator, Ant, Smith, Zak and Gilby welcome the outstanding support of new faces in the lineup.

And Coach Steve Ruane and his coaching staff are excited about what this team brings to the field every single game.  It’s good old-fashioned baseball at its best!

Last year, this team fought hard for the victories and deservedly so.  This year, they are once again battling on the diamond, fighting through the heat and soggy grass to play good baseball, no scratch that, great baseball.  

So, if you have nothing planned this weekend, why not take in a ball game!  And you’ll be joining in the chants of Let’s Go Tigers too!  What a wonderful way to cheer on your local American Legion team and to thank the #210 Post for their continued support.
