Y Preschool earns additional accreditation

Central Bucks Family YMCA Preschool has achieved a STAR 2 rating in the Keystone Stars initiative program. Keystone STARS is an initiative of the Pennsylvania's Office of Child Development and Early Learning to improve, support, and recognize the continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in Pennsylvania.

"Julie Townsend (program director) and our preschool staff have worked extremely hard to continuously offer the highest quality of programming to our students and families," said Kevin Crail, senior director of youth development. Each STAR level builds on the previous and requires continuous improvement and monitoring of quality on the part of the early childhood education program.

Y Preschool staff strives to maintain high standards and earn additional levels. Staff participates in professional development classes in addition to continuously doing self-evaluation of the program. The lengthy accreditation process includes extensive adherence to areas including curriculum, partnerships with family and community, health and safety, management, staff qualifications, and professional development.
