Training Bucks County in Child Abuse Prevention

As summer winds down, the Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children program is gearing up for a busy fall!  I am very excited that we have 15 individuals from various youth-serving organizations throughout Bucks County who will be trained as Facilitators in the Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children program on August 28th.

We are incredibly grateful to the following to the following individuals and organizations who’ve made this possible:

  • The Intelligencer for allowing us to use their training room and for publicizing it
  • Albie Snyder of the Penn Taproom in Doylestown for graciously donating breakfast and lunch for the training.

Support like this from the community helps us succeed in our goal to train 3% of Bucks County (31,350 people) to recognize, prevent and react responsibly to child sexual abuse by the end of 2014.

The individuals who will be trained as new Facilitators share my passion and goal to protect children and make the community safer for them.  I promise to keep you posted on the trainings; watch for news about it. My next steps will be to fulfill promises to local youth organizations, youth church groups  and Central Buck School District to conduct trainings, now that we have additional facilitators and trainers.

We plan to host another Facilitator training in the fall.  If you are interested in becoming a Facilitator or would like more information, please connect with me. The Y will be holding a “Stewards of Children” training on Tuesday, August 27th from 6:30pm-9:00pm at our Teen Center.  The cost is only $10 for the course materials – please contact me if you would like to reserve a spot at this training. rmolyneux@cbfymca.org  or  215-348-8131 x 1126.
