Celebration held to honor retirement of Ro Molyneux

Ro Molyneux, longtime chief operating officer of Central Bucks Family YMCA, will retire from the position in December, 2013. On November 15, colleagues, family and friends gathered at a party in her honor to celebrate her long career with The Y.

Molyneux began her career as a part-time aerobics instructor with Roxborough YMCA in 1980, eventually serving as Associate Executive Director. She left Roxborough YMCA and began working as Associate General Director at Central Bucks Family YMCA eventually becoming Chief Operating Officer.

 Throughout her career, she’s served on the Board of Directors for CB Cares and involved with committees for numerous local community organizations including the Chamber of Commerce and the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown.  Recently, she became an authorized Facilitator for the Darkness to Light organization, serving to protect children by teaching adults to recognize, prevent and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

During the evening in her honor, several colleagues spoke of this long and prolific career at the Y. Zane Moore, president/CEO of the Y in Doylestown read a tribute from his predecessor, Gene Smith, who was unable to attend the event. Virginia Doyle, the Y’s chief financial officer, spoke about Molyneux’s longtime service to the community, including her dedication to the Darkness to Light Child program. Bill Lieser, Jenny Danzis, Ephe Olliver and other members of the board of directors and committees at the Y, spoke about Molyneux’s dedication to the Y mission.

Molyneux was presented with a citation from the PA State House of Representatives by State Representative Marguerite Quinn.

Members of the Y’s Building and Grounds Committee announced the planting of 3,000 daffodil bulbs on the grounds of the Y by Bucks Beautiful, a county-wide organization for the development of gardens in the community.

At the conclusion of the evening, Molyneux thanked her co-workers, giving special mention to her team at the Y and current and former CEO’s Zane Moore and Gene Smith. In retirement, she plans to travel and spend time with her daughters, Jaime & Lauren, and grandchildren Colin and Evelyn.
