Doylestown in the Spotlight for Small Business Saturday

In preparation for Small Business Saturday, Derrick Morgan of the Discover Doylestown Committee and co-owner of Monkey's Uncle, was a spokesperson for the Doylestown Small Business community on TV and Radio. Morgan was first a guest on Fox-29's Good Day Live, and then was interviewed by CBS-3 and KYW News Radio 1060AM. The TV segments ran on Black Friday to help reinforce to consumers the push of "Shopping Small" on Small Business Saturday, as well as to communicate the "Park on Patch" program, for which Doylestown was one of only 50 selected towns in the country. The radio spots ran hourly throughout the day on Saturday, and it seemed the extra publicity for Doylestown certainly had a big impact.
Doylestown businesses were bustling from open to close, and shoppers were in a festive spirit. One shopper at Monkey's Uncle specifically noted "I've been to 5 different shops in town today, and every business seems to have really done great preparation for the crowds, and all the other shoppers are happy and pleasant. It feels like the Anti-Black Friday since all we see on the news are people fighting over limited door busters, and it's an ugly experience compared to Doylestown where we're greeted with complimentary snacks and friendly service."
