Voters Make Third Federal Best Bank of Doylestown

The bank with a 90-year history has three branches in the Doylestown area.

The polls have closed, the votes have been tallied, and one winner came out on top.

Doylestown Patch readers have chosen Third Federal Bank as the best in Doylestown. Though the voting wasn't exactly hot and heavy, 11 of the 42 votes went to Third Fed.

The bank has 14 branches in Bucks, Mercer and Philadelphia counties, including three in the Doylestown area: one , one near the corner of North Main and Shewell Avenue in Doylestown borough, and one at 834 N. Easton Rd., near the Cross Keys Shopping Center.

Founded in 1921, Third Federal celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2011. It started life as the Polish American Savings Building and Loan Association in Northeast Philadelphia.

It opened its first Bucks County office in Feasterville in the 1980s. The following decade, it merged with Doylestown Federal Savings Bank, thereby acquiring four more Bucks County offices. It also relocated its corporate office to Newtown.
