Readers Choose Maryanne Pastry Tops for Cupcakes

The bakery on East Street beat out tough competition this week.

Doylestownians clearly love their baked goods.

This week's Reader's Choice poll on which shop offers the best cupcakes elicited pledges of devotion from besotted fans.

got a shout out from one reader, who said "hands down the best cupcakes around!"

, Felix's Caketeria and all earned votes in the poll, too.

Four readers pleaded to include Lucky Cupcake Company - "How could you omit Lucky Cupcake in Plumsteadville...the BEST!!" wrote one. (We had to stick to barkeries in our physical coverage areas for the poll but )

came in second in the voting, with 27 votes and a nice plug from a customer, who said, "What a great place to sit down and enjoy one of her fabulous cupcakes!"

came out on top this week, with 40 percent of the votes and props from readers like Suzanne Kelly, who said "Maryannes Pastry Shoppe hands down - and also the best donuts, crumb buns, cinnamon buns as well!"

The voting may be over for this week, but feel free to leave a review on the business' listing, if you like. Just click on the business name to go to its directory listing.

you included bakeries in new hope and newtown, but not plumsteadville?

Hi Kevin. Felix's is in Buckingham (they opened a second location last year) and so is Town Crier. We go by actual physical municipal boundary, not mailing address. Are those the two to which you were referring? For the polls, the only time we tend to add businesses outside our defined boundaries is if there aren't enough inside the boundaries to be representative. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for asking.
