Local Company Helping Businesses Turn Customers into Online Connections

OnSpot Social is helping local businesses turn customers into Facebook likes and Twitter follows.

It’s no secret that social media is one of today’s most important marketing tools. And one area company is helping local businesses turn customers into Facebook likes and Twitter follows.

Central Bucks East High School graduate Ryan Taft and his three business partners, Andrew Chupalio, Tim Cochrane and Gene Whitaker, created OnSpot Social

“We see the tablet as a bridge between the real world and the digital world,” Taft said.

OnSpot Social, which was founded more than two years ago, offers businesses the technology to set up an iPad or tablet at their physical location so customers can sign up to follow the business on Twitter or like them on Facebook.

An app developed by OnSpot Social, which has been available in the app store for 13 months, enables business to access special software that collects social media connections once they buy a subscription to the service.

“It solves the biggest social media marketing need out there—how do I get more Facebook likes how do I get more people to follow me on Twitter,” Taft said.

Protecting privacy is very important to OnSpot Social, Taft said. “We do not collect and store any Facebook login information at all,” he said, adding the software automatically logs people out of the page once they are done.

OnSpot Social has more than 750 clients, Taft said, including area businesses like Coach’s Steak and Hoagie House and Sandcastle Winery. Subscriptions start at less than $15 a month.

In 13 months, the company’s clients have collected more than 140,000 new connections through the software, he said, noting that connections are Facebook likes, Twitter follows and email addresses.

Clients include national and international companies, including Honest Tea, Reebok, Gipson Guitar and American Apparel.

And it’s not just retail stores that use the technology, Taft said, adding a large percentage of the company’s customers are doctors and dentists.
