Doylestown Hospital Won't Hire Smokers as of July 1

All job applicants will be tested for nicotine as of July 1.

Are you a smoker? Then don’t apply for work at Doylestown Hospital.

The hospital recently announced that it will no longer hire smokers in an effort to ensure their facilities are completely smoke free, the Intelligencer reported.

All job applicants will be tested for nicotine as of July 1. Current employees are not impacted by the policy, according to the Intelligencer.

Doylestown Hospital, a member of the Penn Cancer Network, was named one of the 100 Top Hospitals in the U.S. by Thomson Reuters in 2012. It currently has 420 physicians who work in more than 40 specialty areas.

The hospital was founded in 1923 by the Village Improvement Association, a Doylestown-based women's civic club.
