Doylestown Hospital Named Top Woman-Owned Business

The hospital was ranked No. 1 on the list of the top 100 women-owned businesses in the Philadelphia area by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The magazine ranked the hospital and its parent company, Village Improvement Association, No. 1 on the list of the top 100 woman-owned business. This list was compiled for the magazine's July 22 issue.

Hospital President Kathryn Lambert and Carolyn Della-Rodolfa, Chairman of the Board of Directors, accepted the honor at the journal's inaugural Women's Conference on Wednesday, July 20.

"We have a long and honored tradition distinguished by hard working women,"  Lambert said at the conference, according to a press release. Lambert accepted the recognition with pride.

The hospital features a heart institute, a birthing center with a neonatal intensive care unit, an orthopedics division, and recently expanded the cancer institute.

The Village Improvement Association began in 1895 with 14 women and is nationally recognized as the only women's club to own and operate a community hospital. Currently, women hold 50 percent of the board position and chair the standing committees of the association's health system, according to a press release.
