Police did not immediately identify the man. Later in the day, he was identified as 71-year-old George Mohr, 71, who is thought to be homeless, according to a report in the Courier Times.

There are currently no leads on a suspect, police said Wednesday morning.

Mohr sustained injuries and was flown Temple University after initially being transported to Doylestown Hospital, Penecale said.

Police were made aware of the incident after a passing motorist called to report that a struck pedestrian was lying in the street. When police arrived, they found the injured man and discovered the stab wounds, Penecale said.

Penecale said Wednesday morning that they have not yet spoken with Mohr but they hope to, Penecale said. He said he did not know the victim’s medical condition.

Forensics experts are currently on the scene gathering evidence and police are working to canvas the surrounding neighborhoods to see if anyone saw anything or has any clues.

No weapon has been recovered, Penecale said. He noted there is no way to know if the weapon was discarded or if the suspect retained it.

The incident did not occur on SEPTA property and there has been no disruption in public transportation service, Penecale said.
