Save Kids Castle Seeks Mural Artists

Save Kids Castle is seeking 10 more mural artists to help create an interactive, outdoor museum at the playground.

Kids Castle may be closed but volunteers are working hard to make sure that when it reopens, it’s better than ever.

And if you are a local artist, you can help them reach that goal.

Save Kids Castle is seeking local artists to help create murals that will be displayed at the outdoor play area. The murals will create an “interactive, outdoor museum where families can stroll along a brick walkway while experiencing the sites of Bucks County and its local businesses,” explained Jacqueline Devlin, the art and beautification coordinator for Save Kids Castle.

Murals will feature Bucks County landscapes, historical and cultural sites, as well as businesses and organizations, Devlin said.

Local businesses and organizations will sponsor the murals, giving them the opportunity to be recognized, she added.  Each mural will feature the “Devlin Dragon,” the park’s new mascot who will be hiding throughout the newly-renovated castle.

Illustrator Tina Schofield created the Devlin Dragon especially for Kids Castle.

The Save Kids Castle organization is seeking local artists (professional, amateur, collegiate and student) who are willing to donate their time to create murals for the park.

The murals will range in size and will be created on Extira panels, Devlin said. The pre-cut panels and paint will be supplied.

Devin said artists can complete the murals anytime through March 2014.

“Currently, we have almost 30 artists involved in the program and are seeking about 10 more artists to complete our team,” Devlin said.
