'Philly's Piano Man' to Kick Off Free Summer Concert Series

A man who opened twice for Billy Joel and is known as "Philly's Piano Man" will kick off this year's Sounds of Summer concert series in Doylestown.

The series will feature six outdoor concerts to be held at either Chapman Park or Central Park. In the event of rain, the concerts are held at Lenape Middle School.

All but one of the concerts are free. Philly Party Band's performance on June 30 will feature fireworks at Central Park and is $5 per car.

Sounds of Summer is presented by the Doylestown Township/Borough Performing Arts Council. 

Here's a look at this summer's concert lineup:

• June 26: The Robert Eric Band will play at Central Park beginning at 7 p.m. Robert Eric opened twice for Billy Joel "with Billy himself asking for and receiving a huge round of applause from the crowds," the series flyer says.
• June 30: Philly Party Band will perform everything from disco to top 40 hits. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Central Park. Fireworks will follow. The cost is $5 per car. The raindate is July 7.
• July 10: Fabulous Greaseband will perform dance hits from the 50s to the 90s beginning at 7 p.m. at Chapman Park. 
• July 17: Darlingside will play at 7 p.m. at Chapman Park. "This seamless, exhilarating sounds sits at the intersection of folk, classical and rock," the event flyer reads.
• July 24: Christopher Dean Band, a blues and soul group, will perform at 7 p.m. at Chapman Park.
• July 31: Beach Bumz will play everything from Jimmy Buffet to the Beach Boys during a beach party at Central Park starting at 7 p.m.
