Doylestown Bicentennial Tours of the James-Lorah Memorial Home

Tour the James-Lorah Memorial Home, a rarely-seen
Doylestown gem. Built in 1844, it was the birthplace of the renowned Henry Chapman Mercer, archaeologist and historian. For many years it was the home of
the James family and was willed to the Village Improvement Association (V.I.A.) by its last inhabitant, Sarah James. Miss James had been a charter member of the V.I.A., the women's organization that owns and oversees the operation of the Doylestown Hospital.
