Doylestown's 'Sounds of Summer' Series Starts Wednesday

Singer/songwriter Amy Black will perform a free concert this Wednesday.

Doylestown's Sounds of Summer Series kicks off this week with singer/songwriter Amy Black.

The series, hosted by the borough and the township, features six musical events at either Chapman Park or Central Park.  This week's concert is Wednesday at Chapman Park.

The concert series goes through July 30. All events are free, except for the June 29 fireworks and Philly Party Band concert, which is $5 per car.

The rain location for all concerts except the June 29 fireworks event is Lenape Middle School, 313 W State St. For more details, visitwww.doylestownrec.com.

June 25, 7 p.m. at Chapman Park

Amy Black: The Boston-based singer/songwriter with storytelling and Southern tradition in her blood is one of the best storytelling songwriters working today. Americana in its broadest definition, rooted in folk and country but with tinges of Southern soul and blues

June 29, 7:30 p.m. at Central Park

The Philly Party Band: The ultimate party band will entertain you with everything from big band to disco to current top 40 hits. The concert will be followed by fireworks. The rain date is Sunday, July 6th. The cost is $5 per car. The event opens at 5 pm.

July 9, 7 p.m. at Chapman Park

Darlingside: This seamless, exhilarating sound sits at the intersection of folk, classical, and rock, with dreamy four-part harmonies, dominating cello and violin interjections, old-fashioned mandolin picking and a dynamic rock engine at its core. 

July 16, 7 p.m. at Central Park

Almost Fab: Celebrate 50 years since the British Invasion. Almost Fab entertains with Beatles songs from every era of the Fab Four’s career.

July 23, 7 p.m. at Central Park

Jimmy & the Parrots: Grab your beach chair, suntan oil and flip-flops and get ready for a trip to the islands. This event promises to be an evening full of fun, energy and audience participation.

July 30, 7 p.m. at Chapman Park

Green Tea Revival: These high-energy contemporary country rockers will have you dancing and singing along. Green Tea Revival features dynamic, breath-taking vocals and a four-piece band.
