Doylestown Bookshop Holding Julia Child Event

Come by Doylestown's independent bookshop Wednesday afternoon to mark what would have been the 100th birthday of the indomitable Julia Child.

The Doylestown Bookshop will host a special children’s story time event on Wednesday to celebrate what would have been Julia Child’s 100th Birthday.

Part of a national celebration honoring the chef, the event will feature readings from the newly released "Bon Appetit! The Delicious Life of Julia Child" by Jessie Hartland. 

Attendees will have a chance to craft their own chef’s hat, and celebrate with a sweet treat. 

2012 marks the year that beloved chef, author and television personality Julia Child would have turned 100.

In her honor, Knopf Publishing, now owned by Random House, has organized the JC100 celebration.

One hundred bookstores across the country will celebrate this special day with a reading of Hartland’s picture book biography. is excited to be part of such a widespread event.

The event will be held Wednesday Aug. 15, from 1 to 2 p.m.

About the book: Follow Julia Child—chef, author, and television personality—from her childhood in Pasadena, Calif., to her life as a spy in World War II, to the cooking classes she took in Paris, to the publication of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, to the funny moments of being a chef on TV.
