Temple Judea to Present Program for Holocaust Remembrance Day

Lori Rosolowsky and Temple Judea Choir perform Miraculous Escapes, Music and More: A Family's Story on April 7

Bucks County singer, songwriter, pianist and actress Lori Rosolowsky and the Temple Judea Choir will present a musical program in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Miraculous Escapes, Music and More: A Family’s Story is set for Sunday, April 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Temple Judea in Doylestown Township.

In the show’s debut performance, Rosolowsky will share poignant and humorous stories of her relatives’ unlikely escapes from Nazi persecution and the lasting impact they made after arriving in America.

Temple Judea’s choir will join Rosolowsky in singing music by her great uncle, renowned Jewish composer Herbert Fromm, as well as Rosolowsky’s own compositions, interwoven between stories of her family’s enduring contributions in many fields.

Herbert Fromm was the last survivor of an influential group of Jewish composers who emigrated from Central Europe during the Nazi period. He endeavored to add a new dimension to the music of the American synagogue by writing of humanity’s desire for unity—a motif shared by his descendent Rosolowsky in her own music and frequent performances benefiting local communities.

The Temple Judea Choir will sing Fromm’s award-winning “23rd Psalm” as well as Rosolowsky’s frequently performed “Pass It On”—an inspiring anthem of human connection that has been performed by the Bucks County Symphony and many area schools.

In addition, the show features video memoirs of Rosolowsky’s aunt, Edith Coliver, who was only 23 when she translated for Hermann Goering—Hitler’s designated successor—and other high-level Nazis at the Nuremberg Trials. She later worked as a human rights activist and became the first woman to hold leadership roles in several international and Jewish organizations.

The musical multimedia program is free and open to the public and is recommended for adults and students grades 5 and up. Temple Judea recently moved and is now located at 38 Rogers Road, Furlong. For information, call 215-348-5022 or visit www.lorirosolowsky.com.

ABOUT TEMPLE JUDEA

In the spring of 1959, 15 families joined together to form Temple Judea of Bucks County, the first synagogue in Doylestown, Pa., and the first Reform congregation in the county. Temple Judea was admitted to the Union of Hebrew Congregations (now known as the Union for Reform Judaism) later that year and has remained affiliated ever since. The congregation has grown steadily through the years, while maintaining the relaxed feel of a small and friendly community. As membership expanded, Temple Judea outgrew its building on Swamp Road and moved into a beautiful and spacious new home in late December 2012, celebrating with a torah procession and building dedication on January 6, 2013. Also in 2012, the congregation welcomed Rabbi Mitchell Delcau. For more information, visit www.templejudea.org
