Sandy in Central Bucks: Closings and Cancellations

Hurricane Sandy is forcing the closure or cancellation of businesses and events all across town. Check here for the latest.

Doylestown-area residents still are battening down the hatches in advance of Hurricane Sandy.

The mega-storm is expected to affect our area from Sunday through at least Tuesday.

Here's a roundup of the latest closings and cancellations caused by the storm:



Altomonte's Doylestown location will be closed Monday and most likely Tuesday. Call Tuesday to check if it is open. (215) 489-8889.

Busy Bee Toys on East State Street in Doylestown will be closed Monday.

Doylestown Bike Works on Main Street in Doylestown will be closed Monday.

Jamie Hollander Gourmet Foods in New Hope is closing Monday and Tuesday. Call if you have any questions: 267-614-9127




Central Bucks Family YMCA is closed Monday, Oct. 29. Kinder Y Preschool is closed on both Monday and Tuesday. Check before visiting on Tuesday to see if it is open.

Doylestown Dog Park: Orientation and registration on Tues., Oct 30 may be cancelled. If schools are closed, it’s definitely cancelled, because the session is supposed to be at Lenape Middle School. Also, plan on the dog park being closed for a few days for flooding to subside.

Metropolitan Fine Art, 5860 Lower York Rd., Buckingham, PA, will be closed Sunday - Tuesday and will re-open Wednesday weather permitting. We keep updates on our website www.themetfa.com. Our home base in Lambertville, NJ, on South Union Street is located in the major flood zone and preparations are being taken during this time.

Pearl S. Buck International will be closed on Monday. 

Peddlers Village: The scarecrow contest and display ended early, on Friday. The Lincoln & Continental Car Show scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled. Earl's Bucks County will be closed on Monday.



Bucks County Courthouse & offices will be closed Monday. Only designated emergency personnel must report to work; everyone else, stay home and stay safe.

Doylestown Township municipal offices will be closed Monday and until further notice. Only essential personnel - police, road crews, emergency responders - are to report to work.



Bucks County SPCA will close both shelters at noon Monday. "The animals in our care are warm and dry thanks to our dedicated staff. In case of an emergency please call our answering service for assistance 215-598-6155." Hours Tuesday will be limited and generators working overtime so please call before you decide to visit.



Central Bucks schools are closed Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30. All activities are also cancelled. All 12 month staff are to report to work.

Delaware Valley College will be closed Monday and Tuesday. There will be no classes, and faculty and non-essential staff should not report. Students who are home for the weekend are directed to stay home. Students who are on campus are encouraged to go home. For students who are on campus and unable to leave, there will be dining hall services available. Should campus lose power, students will be directed to bring a pillow and blanket and gather in a designated area.



Philadelphia International Airport: all flights at PHL have been cancelled for Monday.

SEPTA service will be suspended at 12:30 a.m. on Monday morning and remain suspended for all of Monday. Officials will monitor the storm and decide whether to resume service on Tuesday.

Is there any plan to evacuate the people in the mobile homes in Doylestown? A lot of them are elderly.
