Letter to the Editor: Doylestown Produce Needs Support

The business on South Main has been cited for directing traffic at its busy location.

To the Editor:

There is a conflict going on about the business, Doylestown Produce (also known as Rock & Roll Produce) on South Main Street. Several of the people who work there are kind enough to direct traffic so that there are no accidents occuring. It is a 25 mph zone which is not enforced and if it were, I think they would not have to direct traffic. Many people have expressed their opinions (), and overall, we are all supportive of the Produce business.

This business has fresh produce and plants and other items at terrific prices and is very popular with the local population, so why do the police want to take them to court?  This will happen on June 4th at 11:30 a.m. and seems absolutely unnecessary. Why can't the local police move the 25 mph warning machine right next to the produce place and why can't they perhaps post a sign to ask motorists to slow down, busy business ahead.

I do not feel they should be forced to move, as a few suggest because then they will be increasing their overall costs and prices of produce. Doylestown Produce has been in our town for 22 years and must be allowed to stay exactly where they are, with some police support, not police harrassment.

I have shopped there since they opened and I will fight to help them win this battle. How about you?
