Fonthill Named a Top 'Fantastic' Castle to Visit in U.S.

A list put out earlier this week by Mashable ranks Fonthill as number four out of 13 castles to visit in America.

Doylestown's Fonthill has been named one of the top 13 most "fantastic" castles to visit in the United States. The list, put out earlier this week by Mashable, ranks Fonthill as number four out of 13 castles to visit in America.

Mashable describes the Doylestown gem as a mix of Medieval, Gothic and Byzantine architectural styles.

“Henry Chapman Mercer, an Archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramist, scholar and antiquarian, built Fonthill Castle from 1908-1912 as a home and a museum for his collection of tiles and prints, mostly famously the Moravian tiles,” the description reads.
