First Friday, Dog Parade, Fishing at the Dam This Weekend

There's lots to do this gorgeous weekend.

FREE FIRST FRIDAY FUN AT BUSY BEE TOYS

Where/when: Busy Bee Toys, 58 E. State St., Doylestown, Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

What: Join Christa M. Tinari, creator of the Feel & Deal Activity Deck, to learn some easy and fun ways to foster social and emotional intelligence skills in your children. Also, two seventh grade students from River Valley Waldorf School will offer henna tattoos. This is a class trip fund-raiser and the cost for the tattoos will be $1-$5 depending on size of tattoo. Henna tattoos are all natural and will fade in about 1-2 weeks.

STRUT YOUR MUTT PARADE

Where/when: Chapman Park, E. State St. & East Rd., Doylestown, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What: Dogs and their owners sporting Kentucky Derby style hats will be celebrating race day as they enjoy the “Strut Your Mutt with Roxy” charity dog parade, followed by Derby Day and pet themed fun in Downtown Doylestown. The event is being organized by Roxy Reading Therapy Dogs, a Bucks County based non-profit that promotes literacy to children who have varying physical, emotional and academic challenges, as well as supports child victims during courtroom proceedings.

Cost: Free to watch, $20 to participate.

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH SENIORS & HANDICAPPED PERSONS FREE FISHING DAY

Where/when: , E. State St. & East Rd., Doylestown, Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What: No fishing license required for children ages 16 and under, seniors age 65 and over, and handicapped persons of any age. Grandparents, bring your young grandchildren and fish together. Pond will be freshly stocked for this event.  Four fish limit per person.  Free food from Weis Markets in Doylestown; ice cream and pretzels compliments of Sweet Pea Homemade Ice Cream and A Taste of Philly.

COMMUNITY CASTLE PARTY

Where/when: Central Park, 425 Wells Rd., Doylestown, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What: Lolly Hopwood & YoYo Kusters will be performing a benefit concert, get your face painted, see a performance and learn a dance put on by members of the Bravo Dance Center, win one of the many baskets of prizes, let your child have fun making several crafts and/or games, feast on a homemade baked good or on donations from many local vendors, and get a photograph of your family from Jennifer O'Donnell Photography.

Cost: Free to attend, with opportunities to donate to Save Kids Castle.

PEDDLER'S VILLAGE ANNUAL STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

Where/when: Peddler's Village, 2400 Street Rd., New Hope, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What: Enjoy strawberries prepared in every way possible from freshly-dipped chocolate strawberries, cream topped strawberry shortcakes and freshly baked pastries to crispy strawberry fritters, smoothies, parfaits, and pies overflowing with the delicious fruit. Pick up some fresh berries, Pennsylvania Dutch strawberry butters and preserves to enjoy at home.
