Fall Fun Beckons Around Doylestown

The leaves are changing colors quickly, so get out this weekend and enjoy them before the trees are all bare.

Fall seemed to take awhile to arrive in Doylestown this year, but now that it's here, it's progressing rapidly.

The leaves are changing hue in a rippling tide of autumnal color, but the trees seem to be losing those leaves by the hour. Thankfully, the weather forecast for the weekend looks nice - mostly sunny with a high in the mid-60s.

If you're looking to get out and about to experience the best of a Central Bucks autumn, we've got the details to help you plan your jaunt. There's so much to choose from, whether you want to pick your own apples, take a hayride, or just walk down a wooded path.

The traditional fall goodies - hayrides, corn maze, pick-your-own pumpkins and more - are all on the agenda at this farm in the Furlong area of Buckingham. The festival runs every weekend in October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Agri-tainment is an important part of business for this farm in Buckingham, one of the area's largest. This year's pumpkin crop, like so many others around Bucks and Montgomery counties, during the growing season. But that hasn't stopped the farm's fall festival. Besides picking your own pumpkins, enjoy country music,

Bring the kids to Tabora Farm & Orchard this weekend so they can see that apples grow on trees, not in bags at the grocery store. Pick-your-own varieties of apples, take a wagon ride around the grounds, or just chase the chickens. Everything from apple cider to a wide array of baked goodies is available inside. Tabora is on the border of New Britain and Hilltown townships.

Pumpkinfest takes over the grounds of the this weekend. The much-loved local festival is the largest two-day drug and alcohol-free event of its kind in Pennsylvania. Check out the pumpkin carvers, take the kids for face painting and games, enjoy crafts, food and more. Stick around til after dark to watch the carved pumpkins lit up. Runs from noon to 9 p.m.

Swing by on E. Court Street for some bratwurst, hot dogs, German potato salad and more as one of Doylestown's oldest church's celebrates the area's German heritage. The festival runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the lawn in front of Freeman Hall.

When the sun goes down, the bonfire starts at . Run through the corn maze with a flashlight for some spooky thrills, or enjoy some ooey, gooey s'mores over the fire. Price is $7.50 per person.
