PA K9 Assistance Foundation Receives Van from Thompson Toyota Through Toyota 100 Cars for Good

On Thursday, February 20th, a large crowd gathered excitedly inside the new Service Center at Thompson Toyota for a very special presentation: PA K9 Assistance Foundation was receiving the keys to their brand new 2014 Toyota Sienna.

The Carversville-based organization, which provides safety equipment to Police K9s, won the minivan through Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good campaign. The organization will use the new Sienna for mobile education and to transport their dogs to various teaching events in the community.

“This was quite a surprise,” said Mike Decher, a Northampton Police Officer and President and CEO of PA K9 Assistance Foundation. “Honestly we never expected to win the car, but it will help our organization in more ways than we could ever imagine.”

Representatives from The Thompson Organization and Central Atlantic Toyota were on-hand for the presentation. “Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program gives vehicles to deserving non-profits in an effort to help them in their day-to-day work,” said Tom Larson, District Manager from Central Atlantic Toyota. “We are thrilled to be able to present this Sienna to Mike Decher and PA K9 Assistance Foundation.”

Also in attendance on Thursday were Bristol Township Officers Keith Bertram and Stephen Sanocki and their K9 counterparts, Apollo and Ela. Together, the teams demonstrated drug and explosives scent-training, along with bite-sleeve grip techniques.
