NOVA announces winners of 20th Annual Galaxy Art Show

Network of Victim Assistance and First Federal of Bucks County, the event’s presenting sponsor, announced the prize-winning works of this year’s Galaxy Art Show & Sale at the event’s opening reception on Thursday, November 7.

More than 400 people attended this year’s reception, which included harp music by Darcy Fair. An estimated 1,100 people toured the exhibit over the four-day period. Honorary chairs of the event were former Governor Mark and Kathy Schweiker and Binny and Herman Silverman, all of whom are staunch longtime supporters of NOVA and its mission.

This year, NOVA celebrated its 20th Galaxy with a retrospective of the 18 featured artists. The Galaxy Committee was pleased to have three notable artistic voices judging the exhibited works of 87 artists: Lisa Tremper Hanover, director and CEO of the James A. Michener Art Museum; Christine McHugh, Big Tree Studios; and Lee Rutherford, Rutherford’s Camera Shop.

The show and sale, which continued free and open to the public Friday through Sunday, included special activities for a range of interests, all at no charge: Beading Workshop with artist Nora Lewis, “Children’s Illustrator & Author Meet-up” with Lee Harper & Debbie Dadey, “Self-Expression Through Art: Exploring Your Personal Journey” presented by NOVA Counselors Charity G. Mackey, M.S., LPC & Joyce Jeffries, M.S., Jazz & Mimosas with the Delaware Valley Saxophone Quartet and Afternoon Tea with several past featured artists.

This annual art show and sale fundraiser supports the counseling, advocacy and prevention education programs of the 39-year-old nonprofit. The artists who participated in this year’s juried show donated 40 percent of every artwork sale to NOVA.
