Lost Dog (update)

Buddy, a brown lab mix (about 65 pounds) missing since January 29th.

UPDATE: Buddy was seen yesterday morning on Deerpath Drive / Eagle Road (near Lurgan Rd, Warner Rd in New Hope, PA).

If you see him, please send a female to call him/bring him inside out of the cold before the storm (he is extremely scared/shy, especially around men). You can respond via this link (http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/laf/4316926456.html) for immediate pick-up.

Ashley, I learned of this through my position as a veterinarian - try the technique hunters use when they lose a dog. Place an article of your clothing that you have worn for at least a day, the longer the better, in the last area Buddy was seen. If in a busy or well traveled area, try to find a slightly more secluded place. Place a bowl of water with it. Do not leave food as that will attract other animals and may scare Buddy. You may want to leave a note or flyer with Buddy's picture on it and indicating not to disturb the item of clothing or the water (which, admittedly, likely will freeze today/tonight). Check the spot every 4-6 hours or more frequently, if you can. Often the dog will be sitting there waiting for you. Many people have recovered their lost best friends this way. I hope this works for Buddy!

Any word on Buddy?
Ashley Gushue February 07, 2014 at 11:25 AM
Thank you, Tripp! Buddy was spotted again on Deerpath Drive / Eagle Road yesterday (2/6). He paw is cut/bleeding and he seems delirious, but we remain hopeful to get him home! Thank you everyone for your kind notes, and for keeping little Buddy in your thoughts.

if Buddy was spotted, why isn't that person trying to retrieve him :(
Ashley Gushue February 07, 2014 at 04:06 PM
He was abused by a previous owner and is therefore very shy. He tends to run away from those who approach him, which makes the situation that much harder. We are asking that those who spot him send a female to bring him inside or to call 215-630-9794 right away.

So sorry to read your dog is still missing. My advice is for your family to bundle up and spend all your free time outside where he has been spotted. Have his favorite treat. Also for everyone who spots him sit down and do not show your hands. My experience with scared dogs is as soon as I am on their level, talk softly and keep hands in my pocket the dog will come towards. If he is not found by Sunday I will go to locations listed Sunday (I unfortunately am away until then).

What area can we look? I live in Buckingham off 413 so New Hope, Dtown area. I have 2 dogs so this is very upsetting. We also used to have a Buddy for about 18 years until 2010

Yay! Great news. Also, the tip Tripp left in the comments section on trying to find missing dogs is really helpful.

oh this makes me so happy :) I saw the update and I was afraid to read further in fear it would be sad news. 3 weeks out in this weather and he survived, a real miracle
