Fred Beans Chevrolet earns General Motors distinction, recognizes employees, celebrates '#1 Customer'

Customers, employees and facilities. Fred Beans has frequently noted that success in the automotive business he runs requires unrelenting attention to each of these three areas.

Earlier this summer, his Chevrolet of Doylestown dealership was recognized for meeting General Motors’s “Standards for Excellence” (SFE) objectives, which include customer satisfaction survey (CSI) results, employee training and significant upgrades to the dealership’s showroom, waiting areas and exterior, among other achievements.

On hand to present a plaque to Beans on behalf of General Motors and Chevrolet were Daniel M. Ahearn, zone manager; Zack Spraker, district sales manager; and Donald G. Gaskins Jr., district manager for after-sales services.

Doylestown Chevrolet’s general manager Mark Donahue, who’s been with the company for from nearly the beginning, also chose this luncheon event at the showroom to honor his entire staff of around 50 and the dealership’s long-time “#1 Customer,” Joe Skupen of Doylestown.

“Of the 72 GM dealers in the Philadelphia region,” said Donahue, “we’re in the top 10 percent, hitting #6 in sales and #6 in service. It’s unusual for both sales and service to rank so high.”

Donahue and his management team recognized the contributions of all the employees, from cashiers and support staff to service technicians and the sales staff. Andrew Cohen has held the top sales volume spot for the entire family of dealerships for several years; besides earning the admiration of the sales team at Chevy, Andrew frequently wins high honors in the region’s sales volume and CSI rankings.

“The product is there,” said Fred Beans, president, who noted earlier with appreciation that “no one bends metal like GM.”

“We’ve made an investment with the upgrades to this facility (completed in 2012). But even if you have the best product and the best facility, it’s you, the people, who make the difference.”

#1 customer…25 and counting
Joe Skupen, who attended the luncheon in the Chevy showroom with his daughter Melissa, was presented with a Fred Beans AutoRewards Platinum membership, valued at $2,500, along with a plaque and a banner signed by all who were present.

Joe spoke of his close relationship with the products, sales staff and service personnel over the years. Since his first Fred Beans purchase – a 1995 Saturn coupe – he and his family have bought 25 vehicles from the Chevrolet dealership. He and his wife, Wendy, currently own a Chevy Cruze and the Victory Red flex-fuel Silverado he drove to the luncheon; Melissa arrived in her own red Silverado.

“The reason we continue to come back and purchase here is the service we receive,” Skupen said.
