First Federal of Bucks County Partners With NOVA to Stand Up To, Race Against Bullying

First Federal of Bucks County will partner with Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) of Bucks County to sponsor NOVA’s 2nd annual NO BULLying 5-mile run and 1-mile fun run  on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. at Central Park in Doylestown.

Last year’s inaugural event attracted more than 150 runners, and this year’s run promises to be even bigger. NOVA aspires to make the NO BULLying Run a premier event that raises awareness of the effects and consequences of bullying.

According to the National Education Association, about 160,000 children miss school every day out of fear of being bullied. More than 7 in 10 students report incidents of bullying as a problem at their school, and more than 4 of 10 youth report that they have experienced some form of cyber-bullying in the last year.

“NOVA is one of our favorite charities at First Federal of Bucks County,” said Jeane Coyle, President and CEO of First Federal of Bucks County. “They do fantastic work to give a voice to some of the most vulnerable victims of crime in Bucks County, and this event helps shine a spotlight on the problem of bullying, which almost everyone can relate to.”

The challenging and rewarding race course loops around Central Park’s rolling hills before winding down to the beautiful Doylestown bike and hike path that follows Little Neshaminy Creek. A long downhill to a flat finish turning back into Central Park will have participants charging hard for their 5-mile personal records.

The deadline to register is June 12. Registration for the 1-mile fun run is $10, while registration for the run is $25. Running teams of five or more can register for a discounted rate of $20 per person. Click here to register or to learn more.

All race proceeds benefit NOVA, which supports, counsels and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County and works to prevent and eliminate violence in society through advocacy, training, community education and prevention programs.

Founded in 1974, NOVA is a non-profit 501 (c) (3), community-based organization. Services are made possible through the financial support of federal, state, and local government grants and contracts, United Way of Bucks County, corporations, foundations, and private donations. All contributions are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
