Donations Needed for Adopt-A-Pantry Project

Drop off non-perishable items and fresh produce on May 27, 28 and 29 at Delaware Valley College Student Center in Doylestown.

All through the month of May, food collection sites popped up all over Bucks County for the Opportunity Council's second annual Adopt-A-Pantry project, a collaborative, county-wide food drive to benefit the Opportunity Council's Food and Nutrition Network (FaNN) of more than 30 food pantries.  Through a partnership with New York Life, Delaware Valley College, The Intelligencer and Bucks County Courier Times, Adopt-A-Pantry has set a goal to collect 23,000 meals, or the equivalent of 15 tons of food.

Adopt-A-Pantry 2014 will make sure that pantries are well stocked for the summer, when shelves often go bare. This is the time of year when children are home from school and not able access a free or reduced-price school lunch or breakfast, on which many Bucks County families depend.

You can help by dropping off non-perishable items & fresh, hearty produce on May 27, 28 and 29 at Delaware Valley College Student Center in Doylestown.  Financial donations and volunteers to help sort and pack the food are also welcome.

Adopt-A-Pantry has added a new event this year, a Cook-Off which will be held on Friday May 30  at 10 am . Locals are challenged to make a tasty, healthy meal from a list of ingredients found in our pantries.
